Deborah Klens-Bigman
Welcome
As usual, it has taken me far too long to put in updates, a situation that is now being rectified.  Keep checking for new things being added week by week.

On this website you will find general information and writings on subjects of interest to the author, nearly all of which has to do with Japanese traditional culture and arts; in particular the performing arts of iaido (Japanese swordsmanship) and Nihon Buyo (Japanese classical dance).  I include information on studying these art forms as well as the philosophy, aesthetics and rationales for doing so.  I also hope, in the near future, to include profiles of teachers and friends in some of these fields and ways in which to contact them for further information.  I will also include links of interest to these and related fields, along with a list of books that are accessible to the general reader.  In the meanwhile, feel free to drop me a line at deborah.klensbigman@gmail.com

This site is in many ways intended for those who are not only interested in the "how to" of these fields, but the why, as in why would a middle-aged white chick have an interest in this stuff, and could it also interest someone like me?  Swords and fans are objects that for the most part are no longer in everyday use, yet there are some people who spend a great deal of time learning how to use them properly.  I have no definitive answers, but I keep looking.  This site is for those of us who keep asking "why?"
